Referees are central staff lawyers who serve the Oklahoma Supreme Court. They submit written reports to the Court on a variety of matters including petitions for certiorari, original actions, prisoner filings, stays pending appeal, and other types of appeals. Referees also handle inquiries into the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction and requests for emergency relief. They regularly conduct hearings on original actions. Referees answer procedural questions but cannot give any legal advice.

Administrative Assistant Kelley Middaugh works closely with the Referees, the Court Clerk’s office and the public in receiving files, scheduling hearings, compiling materials for conference, distributing cases for conference, tracking cases and overall management of the Referee office.
