The Briefcase Warrior

Artist: Eric Tippeconnic

Browning Pipestem, the keynote speaker at the 2nd Sovereignty Symposium, recounted that the Native Americans historically and typically fought with bows and arrows, lances and rifles.  However, the distinguished attorney and scholar noted that now their battles are fought in the courtroom.  He said that his contemporaries were the first generation of briefcase warriors.  This painting by Comanche Eric Tippeconnic, PhD exemplifies that concept.  Tippeconnic is a self-taught artist who teaches history at California State University San Marcos.  The painting was chosen for the poster for the 2018 Sovereignty Symposium.

The next piece on this tour is found on the atrium bridge across from the Briefcase Warrior.
